Story of the abbey

The beer of hospitality
Since 1201, hospitality has made the La Cambre abbey famous. Its founder Dame Gisèle offered a beer brewed with the pure water from the Maelbeek spring to the travelers and the pilgrims that were stopping by.
Today, sitting in the heart of Brussels, this traditional abbey shines again. With her exceptional beers, she once again promotes hospitality, much to the delight of all Brussels and today’s travelers.
